3 Life Changing Techniques

August 13, 2018

Finding ways to be thankful  ~This sounds like a small thing, but it is amazing what great results come from simply creating room to be thankful in your life. Here are some ways that I have created the space to be thankful:

  1. Before going to bed every night, my husband and I share thankful thoughts. We started this tradition when we started dating and have kept it up. It’s such a settling way to end the day!

  2. Another way I carve time for thankfulness is through my 5 Minute Journal. Everyday, the journal has a spot for you to list 3 thankful thoughts both morning and night.

  3. I have a folder in my computer with pictures or screenshots of the sweetest moments when people went above and beyond to be so kind to me. Now I can go back to that folder in the moments when life throws me lemons

De-cluttering my life ~ Starting from my wardrobe and ending with the people in my life, I have been weeding out and only keeping that which allows me to blossom and grow.

  1. Think of your life as a garden. If you don’t spend a conscious daily effort in weeding, before long the unwanted weeds have taken over and at that point it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and lose sight of the things that matter to you the most. What areas in your life can you weed things out?

  2. I love this saying “If it’s not a hell yeah, then it’s a no.” I have had to learn to strengthen my no muscle

Not letting technology rule my life ~ I have been working on setting boundaries. Out of the three things I’ve listed here, this one has been the hardest for me to keep up with but when balance is achieved, it is a beautiful thing.

  1. I have a rule for myself that I am not allowed to use my phone between 9:30 pm-7:30 am. I put my phone on airplane mode so I'm not tempted by work emails or any texts that I might get during the night

  2. I pick one day a week (usually Saturday) when I fill my day up with physical activities and I have no need to use my phone. Rather than focusing on not using technology, I focus on creating strategies to take the place of technology.

  3. When I am with another human being, they deserve my attention. No phone. I am a millennial and have not always had that approach, but since I’ve stopped having my phone around when I am visiting with people, it has allowed for greater growth in relationships and it allows me to live in the moment.

What are some small things that have changed your life? I’d love to hear!
